Occident expands its IT Support service for home insurance with new coverage for the digital home environment

According to data from the National Statistics Institute, in 2024 around 15% of workers in Spain regularly worked from home, which translates to approximately 3.2 million people. Aware of this reality, in which technology has become an essential element in both the workplace and the home, Occident has expanded the benefits of its IT Support service for its home insurance, with the aim of adapting its offer to its customers' needs and providing comprehensive coverage in an increasingly digital home environment.
In this way, customers who have or purchase this policy will have access to a more versatile service at no extra cost, designed to support them in their everyday use of technology, whether for digital entertainment, online education, or working from home.
Specifically, the service update includes benefits that are especially relevant in the current digital context, such as working from home assistance, which offers support for home office installation and maintenance, computer security, or configuration of video conferencing and VPN networks; assistance with online educational tools, to facilitate distance learning; online shopping assistance; or assistance with digital entertainment and gaming, which includes gaming equipment setup, advice on streaming platforms, and security recommendations.
The insurer has also reinforced its cybersecurity services, with preventive and responsive advice against digital threats, password protection, and defence against electronic fraud. The following services are also included: data recovery for storage devices that suffer damage that prevents access to the information on the damaged device; assistance to set up cloud backups; and proactive digital identity protection. This coverage is added to IT and technological support to resolve incidents and queries related to all types of devices – computers, smartphones, and tablets; the possibility of installing and configuring technological devices; answers to questions about parental controls and digital protection, as well as geolocation and device blocking; and annual reviews of computer devices.
This service is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and can be requested by phone or through the Occident website.

The IT Support service has established itself as one of the most valued benefits for insured parties in Occident's home insurance policies. Among the most requested benefits are those related to software (52%), other technological services such as parental controls or cloud data configuration, as well as geolocation and smartphone blocking (14.5%), operating systems (11.7%), and hardware or multimedia (11.1%), reflecting the usefulness of having comprehensive technical support in the home environment.
