Occident is now officially recognised with the unification of Seguros Catalana Occidente, Plus Ultra Seguros and Seguros Bilbao

"As from 1 January 2024, the Traditional Business companies of GCO (Grupo Catalana Occidente) have been unified under the new brand Occident under the corporate simplification process carried out by the insurance group."

Occident, GCO's new Traditional Business brand, is now official. As the new year 2024 begins, the companies Seguros Catalana Occidente, Plus Ultra Seguros and Seguros Bilbao have been unified as part of a process that the Group began with the integration of its operating and service platforms and continued by standardising its products. This process is now reaching its culmination to become a single, more agile and efficient company that responds more quickly and effectively to market demands. NorteHispana Seguros will be merged into Occident in 2024.

Occident has 4.5 million policyholders and brings together close to 2,700 professionals and upwards of 15,000 mediators, who will continue to be the backbone of the relationship that the company builds with its customers. In that regard, it is worth noting that the policyholders of the former companies will continue to maintain their usual mediator and their current contractual relations.

“The launch of Occident ushers in a new era in the history of GCO, in which we will continue to understand and accompany people and companies at all stages of their journey, through a more agile organisation, with a greater capacity to respond to the demands of customers and society in general," said Juan Closa, CEO of Occident. In the same vein, the executive assured that “our desire is for Occident to transmit the values of trust, approachability and professionalism that we have provided up to now to all our customers”.

New communication channels

Occident launches its new corporate website (www.Occident.com) with a unique and minimalist design, with the goal of displaying information to the user in an easy and user-friendly way. The new website features quick access to services, more contact channels and other innovative sections such as interactive modules to visually display product coverage and services. It also includes illustrations by the renowned artist Javier Jaén.

Furthermore, through the new Occident app, customers have access to their mediator's details and can check their policies and bills. With regard to health insurance, customers can process medical procedures, access their medical reports and electronic prescriptions, as well as make video medical consultations, among other services. They can also find out the status and progress of claims and can contact the company instantly by chat.

Occident's blogs and its social networks on Facebook, Instagram, X and LinkedIn have also been revamped, featuring advice and prevention recommendations for families and companies.

The branches will be adopting Occident's brand image over the coming weeks.

Fundación Occident is born

As announced in November, the Jesús Serra Foundation, which forms part of GCO, has also been given a new name, Fundación Occident, with the goal of accompanying and strengthening ties with the insurance group's new brand.

The entity will continue with its main lines of action:  research, teaching, cultural actions, sports activities and solidarity initiatives; and maintain alive the memory of the insurance group's founder, Jesús Serra Santamans, by carrying out strategic projects named after him.
