"At the sports event, the Foundation awarded its renowned Fundación Occident Grants which are aimed at training young skiing talent "
The 18th edition of the Jesús Serra Ski Trophy, organised by Fundación Occident, was held on Saturday, 7 March, on a day of high-level competition and a festive atmosphere. The exciting competition in the Baqueira-Beret stadium and the family-friendly, celebratory atmosphere experienced in the Village consolidate this event as a benchmark in the world of skiing in Spain thanks to its combination of sport, training and its strong social dimension, open to all audiences.
One of the distinguishing features of this tournament is the Fundación Occident Scholarships category, with grants awarded to young skiers under the age of 25 who combine high-level competitive skiing with their academic studies. These grants, with a total endowment of 15,000 euros, are unique at the national level, reinforcing the organisation’s commitment to the sporting and academic development of skiers.
The competition, which honours Jesús Serra, founder of GCO and a great skiing enthusiast, has brought together promising young and experienced skiers who have demonstrated a high level of sporting prowess across the events.
The Jesús Serra Ski Trophy is not only a landmark in sport as it also reflects the Fundación Occident's passion for promoting sport and the values it conveys such as self-improvement, effort and companionship. Alongside the competition, participants have additionally enjoyed a wide range of activities and a prize-giving ceremony attended by leading figures from the world of skiing and the Foundation.
This 18th edition of the Trophy reaffirms Fundación Occident's commitment to promoting skiing and developing sporting talent, and it is already working on the organisation of next year's event which promises to offer new thrills and experiences.
The Giant Slalom (GS) event took place on Saturday morning, with 300 skiers once again taking all available race numbers, distributed across the U12, U14, U16, U18, U21 and U30 categories, as well as the different Masters categories.
