"With these new services, the insurance group continues its strategic commitment in the field of health and customer orientation."
Grupo Catalana Occidente has improved the Health and mixed reimbursement health policies offered by Seguros Catalana Occidente, Plus Ultra Seguros and Seguros Bilbao, with the incorporation of new surgical techniques, diagnostic tests and treatments to improve the medical care of its insured parties.
The new diagnostic tests in the health insurance policies of Grupo Catalana Occidente include the possibility of carrying out a PET/CT scan to detect epilepsy. The use of a neuronavigator in surgery is also covered; The main advantage of this new tool is that it allows the obtention of an accurate view of the affected area and, in this way, to be able to plan the complete intervention before incision and without affecting the patient's abilities. A diagnostic test has also been added with an O-ARM circular scanner, a revolutionary intraoperative image system that allows the patient's anatomy to be viewed three-dimensionally in real time while operating.
With the aim of always being at the forefront of healthcare, Grupo Catalana Occidente has also included access to two new surgical procedures in its health policies. The first is a submucosal endoscopic dissection (ESD), an advanced technique for removing lesions of the esophagus, stomach, colon and rectum, much more precise and effective than traditional techniques. The second is stereostactic radiosurgery, a technique that uses small gamma rays to deliver a precise dose of radiation to tumours and that uses three-dimensional images to direct the dose of radiation in the affected area, without affecting the healthy tissue around it.
Finally, the insurer has added three new treatment methods to its healthcare offer. The first is the use of prostheses in tympanic drainage, which are placed in the tympanic membrane, and whose purpose is to prevent the closure of this membrane so that the ear is permanently ventilated. The second involves the use of an advanced technique for treating pain through thermal therapy that, in addition to alleviating pain, has an anti-inflammatory effect and acts as a muscle relaxant. The third and final method is radioactive iodine therapy. This nuclear medicine treatment is used especially in thyroid cancer, to destroy cancer cells in the thyroid gland.
These new services complement the wide variety of treatments and services already covered by the insurance group's health policies, such as coverage of primary care expenses, specialists, diagnosis, hospitalisation and surgery within the medical directory.
According to the Director of Health Insurance at Grupo Catalana Occidente, Daniel Ciprés, "with these new services we continue to respond to the needs of our customers". In this regard, he states that "the health of our insured parties is one of our main priorities, and for this reason we will continue to work to offer them the best coverage".
