"GCO Ventures' vet insurance startup will support both editions of the fair, reinforcing its commitment to prevention and animal welfare"
Musky, GCO Ventures' vet insurance startup for dogs and cats, is reinforcing its commitment to animal welfare by becoming the main sponsor of the next edition of Mascoting. The company will support both editions of the fair, with its first edition this year in Madrid on 3 and 4 October, returning to Barcelona on 21 and 22 November.
With this agreement, Musky takes another step in its association with Mascoting, after having been a sponsor in the 2025 edition in Barcelona. Musky CEO Miquel Farré said, 'we believe that animal welfare begins with prevention and that's why we support Mascoting, which brings this preventative culture to thousands of families in a friendly and educational way. Pet care shouldn't start when a veterinary problem arises, but much earlier.'
In this new edition, the pet insurer will once again be present with various initiatives aimed at attendees and will count on the collaboration of new partners, like Tractive.
Mascoting's expansion to Madrid follows the announcement made by the organisation after the closing of the 2025 edition. Both fairs will maintain the familiar weekend format, with live demonstrations, workshops, talks on dog behaviour and training, animal health and wellbeing content, an exhibition area and a pet-friendly environment designed for both individuals and professionals in the sector: veterinary clinics, animal shelters, dog trainers, ethologists, and groomers, among others.
A fair on the up and up
The third edition of Mascoting, held in October 2025 at Fira Barcelona, had 5,171 visitors and more than 850 dogs. The event saw 900 kilos of food donated to participating animal shelters thanks to the collaboration of Picart and Tiendanimal. A gathering of more than 70 Golden Retrievers enabled the pre-adoption of more than half of the dogs present, many of which found a home during the weekend itself. The event concluded with a tribute to the animals that are no longer with us and the presentation of the Rocky Awards, which recognise talent and a career dedicated to animal welfare.
According to data shared in the talks at the fair, more than 30 dogs and cats are abandoned every hour in Spain, a figure that places the country among the European leaders in terms of the number of abandonment cases. As stated by the co-organiser and co-director of Mascoting, Óscar Planter, 'reaching Madrid is a natural step in Mascoting's growth. Each edition confirms that society needs spaces where animal welfare is the talking point, and expanding our reach to a new city allows us to reach more families and give visibility to more animal shelters. Having Musky as the main sponsor at both fairs gives us the support we need to continue growing without losing the spirit we set out with: responsible adoption and commitment to animals.'
The fair also enjoys sponsorship from Picart, a pet food company, along with many other brands and associations in the pet care sector.
