Occident renews its commitment to DalecandELA and once again supports its charity festival

For the fourth consecutive year, since its first edition, Occident is once again sponsoring DalecandELA Fest, a charity event that seeks to raise awareness of people affected by Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and their caregivers, as well as raise funds for research into this disease. The fifth edition will be held from 17 to 20 September in the Old Port of Algorta, in Getxo (Bizkaia).

As part of this collaboration, Occident will once again support the festival's sporting activities. Among them, the traditional “Travesía Occident por la ELA” (Occident race for ALS) stands out, which will feature two routes of two and four kilometres, as well as the Yoga Workshop, which will once again have the support of the insurer.

This support for the festival is just one of several initiatives promoted by DalecandELA in which Occident has participated throughout this year. In June this year, the insurer sponsored the charity tournament held at the National Golf Centre in Madrid, thus reinforcing a collaboration that extends to different events promoted by the association to contribute to the fight against ALS.

In addition to sports and awareness activities, DalecandELA Fest will feature a wide range of free musical programming over the four days of the festival. Among the artists performing on its stages are Duncan Dhu, Quique González, Kiko Veneno, Sidonie and Malmö 040, in addition to other groups and artists from Spain and abroad.

Fundación Occident remains committed to ALS research

Beyond sponsoring these initiatives, Fundación Occident maintains its support for ALS research through its collaboration with BIOBIZKAIA and DalecandELA. This alliance makes it possible to continue BrainLab, a laboratory dedicated to researching diseases of the nervous system and to facilitating the transfer of scientific advances to patients.

BIOBIZKAIA, based at Cruces University Hospital, is the Health Research Institute of Osakidetza Health Organisations in Bizkaia. The institution carries out biomedical, epidemiological, and public health research to put scientific knowledge into clinical practice.
