"The insurer provides agents and brokers with products that enable them to meet the obligations established in the collective agreement for private insurance mediation companies"
Occident recently signed a collaboration agreement with the General Council of Mediators to support agents and brokers with life and retirement solutions in their commitments arising from the collective agreement for insurance mediators. In this way, the company reiterates its commitment to professional mediation, a central component of its business model and its relationship with customers.
The collaboration includes a personalised and flexible service to facilitate the collective's adaptation to the regulatory requirements arising from the agreement. On the one hand, to comply with Article 67, which establishes the obligation to have retirement insurance for employees with more than three years of service as of 1 January 2026, Occident presents a defined contribution retirement product with guaranteed quarterly returns. It also includes the regularisation of previous commitments through the transfer option, supporting mediators throughout the implementation process. On the other hand, to comply with Article 65, Occident offers its collective life insurance, with capital of €22,000 for death or disability and double indemnity in the event of an accident.
Likewise, both institutions will develop joint training and outreach actions aimed at helping mediators advise companies on the subject matter of personal welfare and the protection of their employees.
In the words of Occident's life insurance director, Daniel Ciprés, "this agreement is part of our strategic commitment to mediation as a professional specialised in supporting customers in making key decisions related to personal, business, and family planning". He also emphasised that the collaboration "allows us not only to respond to the needs of mediators, but also to transform it into an opportunity to advise companies on personal insurance for their employees".
For his part, the chairman of the General Council of Mediators, Javier Barberá, stated that "these products allow compliance with the Mediation Agreement and demonstrate the advantages of cooperation between institutions in the sector to provide real value to mediators and strengthen the profession. We'd also like to highlight the agility and availability demonstrated by Occident from the outset".
