"The event will bring together around 7,000 participants on 15 March, with a staggered start from the Deusto Bridge and the finish on the Gran Vía in Bilbao"
The Occident Bilbao-Bilbao International Cycling for All Event will hold its 37th edition this Sunday, 15 March, consolidated as one of the major events on the national cyclotourism calendar. The event, with Occident as its main sponsor, expects to bring together around 7,000 participants from different parts of Spain and abroad.
The Occident Bilbao-Bilbao event maintains its non-competitive format, focused on enjoying cycling and the shared experience. No official times are recorded, and both conventional and electric bicycle riders are able to participate, the presence of which is increasing year after year. In addition, participants can choose between three routes: 85 km, 115 km or 125 km. The start from the Deusto Bridge and the finish on the Gran Vía allow the event to be integrated into the heart of Bilbao, reinforcing its festive and civic character.
As is tradition, the organisation invites a prominent figure from the world of cycling to cut the inaugural ribbon each year. In this edition, the person with that honour will be the Basque cyclist Omar Fraile, Spanish road champion and stage winner in the Giro d'Italia, who recently retired from professional cycling.
Committed to Basque culture and sport
Occident is maintaining its commitment to the Basque cultural and sports sector, through a variety of programmes to support entities in the region. In 2025, Occident sponsored the exhibition 'Barbara Kruger: Another day. Another night.' at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, of which it is a patron; and backed the DalecandELA festival, which supports people suffering from ALS. In the world of sport, the company continued its collaboration with the sports clubs Bilbao-Basket and the women's handball team of the Super Amara Bera-Bera sports club.
