Occident has set up a special unit to step up support and service for its insured parties affected by the heavy rainfall experienced over the last few hours, which has had a particularly severe impact on various parts of Catalonia and the Valencian Community. In some parts of the province of Barcelona, rainfall exceeded 85 litres per square metre, accompanied by strong storms and hail. In the province of Valencia, rainfall exceeded 100 litres per square metre in some municipalities, causing water accumulation and mobility issues.

Flooding is a compensable event covered by the Insurance Compensation Consortium (CCS). The CCS is a public body that is financed by a small amount included in the price of any insurance policy and which is deposited in a guarantee fund intended to cover extraordinary risks among all insured persons in Spain.
