Occident reiterates its commitment to the DalecandELA festival for the fourth year running

"The insurer is showing its support for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) patients with the traditional 'Travesía Occident por la ELA' (Occident Crossing for ALS), in addition to sponsoring various sporting and musical activities, and, through the Occident Foundation, research activities."

For the fourth consecutive year, since its first edition, Occident is once again sponsoring the DalecandELA festival, a charity event that seeks to raise awareness of people affected by Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and their caregivers, as well as raise funds for research into this disease. This new edition, which will be held from 18 to 21 September, will take place in Getxo (Bizkaia).

As part of this collaboration, the traditional 'Travesía Occident por la ELA' will take place on Saturday 20th, sponsored by Occident, with two swim routes between two and four kilometres at Ereaga Beach.

As part of the sports programme, the insurer will support the Yoga Workshop on Sunday 21st. Furthermore, in its efforts to promote arts and culture, Occident will sponsor a concert by renowned artist Coti, which will be part of a broad musical programme featuring various artists and groups such as Iván Ferreiro, Los Zigarros, and Carlos Ares, among others.

The Occident Foundation, committed to ALS research

Beyond its commitment to the festival, the Occident Foundation continues its support for ALS research by renewing its agreement to continue the BrainLab research project with BIOBIZKAIA and DalecandELA. Last January, BrainLab was launched, a laboratory dedicated to researching nervous system diseases and accelerating the application of scientific breakthroughs to patients.

BIOBIZKAIA, based at Cruces University Hospital, is the Health Research Institute of Osakidetza Health Organisations in Bizkaia. The institution is a benchmark in biomedical, epidemiological, and public health research, and works to quickly and effectively put scientific knowledge into practice.
