Occident reinforces its services due to Storm Leonardo and sends more than 100,000 preventive alerts to its insured parties

As far as meteorology is concerned, the start of the year has been particularly intense. In January, Occident has recorded a significant increase in weather events, with the provinces of Barcelona, Valencia, Alicante, Girona and Tarragona the most affected.
For this reason, Occident has reinforced prevention measures and related information for its customers: During the month of January, more than 112,000 weather alerts were sent out, with a higher concentration in provinces like Alicante and Girona, among others.
Special unit in place due to Storm Leonardo
Due to the recent weather event, Storm Leonardo, which is affecting a large part of the country, with more than 200 litres per square metre of rainfall in some southern areas, Occident has put a special unit in place to reinforce the attention and service to its insured parties.
The insurance company reminds customers that flooding is covered by the Insurance Compensation Consortium (CCS), a public body financed by a small amount included in the price of any insurance policy, deposited in a guarantee fund intended to cover extraordinary risks among all insured persons in Spain.

Occident customers can also count on the personalised advice of their mediator, who will provide assistance in all the procedures related to the impact caused by this meteorological phenomenon. In addition, Occident has strengthened its network of experts to assess and evaluate the damage and, in areas that are difficult to access, customers are offered the possibility of carrying out a remote assessment, better known as video appraisal.
