"From 24 June to 9 November, the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao is hosting the first anthological exhibition in Spain for American artist Barbara Kruger, recognised for her reflective works."
Occident continues to promote the arts and culture by sponsoring the Barbara Kruger exhibition: Another day. Another night. at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. Curated by Lekha Hileman Waitoller, the exhibition presents a selection of contemporary artwork by the American artist over forty years for the first time in Spain, through pieces revived by digitalisation, large-scale LEDs and the integration of sound.
Visitors entering the exhibition will witness an immersive text-based experience, where language takes centre stage, enveloping entire environments with vinyl, soundscapes and multichannel videos. The exhibition invites the viewer to reflect on topics such as language, media and meaning in the digital age, with striking images and bold and suggestive sentences.
This collaboration is part of the insurer's close relationship with the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, as a Trustee of the institution since it opened to the public. Occident has collaborated with the cultural institution on numerous occasions to support research, teaching, social action and the arts. Meanwhile, the Director General of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, Miren Arzalluz, thanked the insurer for its "firm commitment to promoting and fostering the arts", while highlighting the long history of collaboration between both entities.
