Occident brings together more than 500 former employees at its annual retirees’ gathering

"Each year, the insurer re-establishes its connections with the professionals who were part of the company’s history, with simultaneous events in Madrid and Barcelona"

Once again, Occident has recognised those who wrote a good part of its history. The company held its traditional annual event for retired employees, an event that dates back more than six decades and which in this edition brought together more than 500 people between the two cities, consolidating itself as one of the most significant moments of the corporate calendar.

Barcelona hosted the first of the two days on Friday 10 April, at the Hyatt Regency Barcelona Tower hotel, with more than 340 attendees. The Madrid gathering took place today, 21 May, at the iconic Hotel Wellington, where nearly 180 former employees met up in an atmosphere of warmth and shared nostalgia. Both events were notable for their careful organisation and the recognition that the company wants to convey to those who devoted years of professional dedication.

At both events, GCO Chairman José María Serra and Occident's Director of Personnel, Talent and Culture, Xavier Portales, spoke, thanking all the attendees for their dedication and commitment during their time at the company.

José María Serra conveyed the organisation's appreciation to those present: 'Behind Occident’s history are hundreds of personal stories of commitment and vocation of service. This event is a way of thanking and acknowledging all the people who have been part of this journey and who continue to be an essential part of our history.' Xavier Portales, for his part, emphasised the enduring relevance of that legacy: 'The culture of Occident has been built thanks to its people. The values, the way of understanding work and the commitment to our customers that define the company today are the result of the contribution of those of you who have been part of it for so many years.'

Beyond bringing the people who shared years of work together, this annual lunch plays an essential role in the culture of Occident: maintaining the sense of belonging of those who have already completed their time in the world of work, but continue to be part of the company's identity. With initiatives such as this one, the company keeps the bond alive with those who have contributed to building its track record and identity over generations.
